Discover all our treks in Nepal
An exceptional land nestled between China to the North, India to the South, East and West, Nepal first fascinates with its exceptional geography. Indeed, it has a very wide variety of landscapes ranging from the plains of the Terai which border the southern border to the icy peaks of the “roof of the world” in the North with 8 of the 14 highest peaks in the world at more than 8000m, including Everest “Sagarmatha” in Nepali (8848m); passing through the hills of the Himalayan foothills with its jungles, gorges and valleys like that of Kathmandu.
This country also fascinates with the diversity of populations and cultures. The country has more than 60 different ethnic groups and castes, and is home to many UNESCO World Heritage sites. Its extraordinary hospitality and unique heritage make it a very attractive destination.
It has become the world’s trekking paradise where varied routes and all levels are offered to walkers. Less experienced hikers will find what they are looking for in a trek through the Pokhara valley or the balconies of the Annapurnas; the legendary tour of the Annapurnas with the passage of Thorung La (5416m) which ranks among one of the most beautiful in the world. For more experienced trekkers, the Everest base camp, a true myth due to the difficulty of the route and the unforgettable emotion, or the grand tour of Manaslu (8156m) in the wild Himalayas, still little visited, and which will delight walkers looking for authenticity. All this enhanced by evenings and well-deserved rest in the lodges or with locals, or in tents with the friendliness of the guides and porters, always very attentive.
Of course, we cannot ignore the capital: Kathmandu (1350m), mythical city, favorite destination of hippies who traveled in the 60s. Former city-kingdom, its teeming streets which punctuate the life of Kathmandu, can be explored on foot, allowing you to discover the mixed colors of Hinduism and Buddhism. Its Boudhanath and its famous stupa, a high Buddhist place no longer has its divine eye, and the summit is under renovation, following work started before the earthquake, but the temple maintains its proud appearance and still arouses devotion, notably Tibetans who wander around reciting mantras.
The 2015 earthquake certainly left its mark but the city is still proudly standing and recovering thanks to the optimism of the Nepalese.
Kathmandu and neighboring cities: Patan and Bhaktapur, equally exceptional but more traditional than the capital, between them reveal a multitude of architectural treasures, notably the majestic Durbar Square, pillar and heart of Nepalese civilization.
Fans of festivities will find what they are looking for during the many festivals such as Holi, that of colors during which the Nepalese splash each other with paint and water, or Deepawali, that of lights.
Nature lovers will not be left out with the exploration of the country’s many parks on the back of an elephant, such as the Chitwan National Park where rhinos and tigers live. Come do it with Franco Nepal Treks, Mohan and his team are waiting for YOU for YOUR adventure.
See you soon !!!
