The programme
Day 01: Kathmandu – Chitwan, 160 km / 6 hours on the road. Arrival in Sauraha, the main gateway to Chitwan National Park. Check in at your chosen accommodation. Free afternoon to relax and explore the local village. In the evening, take part in a cultural dance of the Tharu, the local ethnic group.
Day 02: Morning: jeep or elephant-back safari in the national park. A chance to see rhinos, deer, wild boar, monkeys and many kinds of birds.
Afternoon: visit to the Chitwan elephant breeding centre. Canoe trip on the Rapti River to watch crocodiles and water birds. Jungle walk led by a naturalist guide. This lets you see the park’s plants and wildlife up close.
Day 03: Departure from Chitwan to Kathmandu by tourist bus, 160 km. 6–7 hours on the road.
